Defense Stands Out on First Day of Full Pads (8/9)CORAL GABLES, Fla. – For the first time in 2010 fall camp, the University of Miami football team donned full pads for a two-hour practice session Monday morning under cloudy skies at the Greentree Practice Fields.
After rain soaked South Florida throughout much of Sunday, the Hurricanes practiced on a damp but solid turf Monday. It was a normal session for the most part, with the ‘Canes working through 7-on-7, 11-on-11, red zone, goal line and blitz drills.

Practice Report 8/8CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team held its fourth practice of fall camp Sunday afternoon, with a steady rain falling throughout most of the two-hour session on the Greentree Practice Fields.
The Hurricanes worked in shells for the second straight day of camp and will move to full pads Monday as the ‘Canes move deeper into August.

Shannon Leads BCS in Coaches' APR RankingsCORAL GABLES, Fla. - University of Miami head football coach Randy Shannon ranks third among all active Division I football coaches with a career Academic Progress Rate of 977, The Center for Research on Sport In Society announced this week.
"This is credit to our student-athletes and the support staff in our academic area," said Shannon. "Academic success is important to the players on this team and they are receiving the credit they have worked so hard for."

Seantrel Henderson to enroll at UMOffensive tackle Seantrel Henderson, the nation's top football recruit, will attend the University of Miami this fall.
Henderson's father, Sean, said Friday that his son will enroll at UM after originally signing with USC. Henderson is expected on campus Aug. 3. Preseason camp begins Aug. 5.
"It came down to the severity of the USC sanctions,'' Sean Henderson told the Sun Sentinel. "It probably would have been a tougher decision [on National Signing Day] if Miami had talked to us earlier in the recruiting process. We've been talking with [offensive line] coach Jeff Stoutland, and they seem pretty happy about all this.''

Randy Shannon says Jacory is 100 percentHurricanes coach Randy Shannon said on the Joe Rose show that quarterback Jacory Harris has fully recovered from his thumb injury.
"He's been 100 percent for the last three or four weeks," Shannon said.
Shannon said Jacory is a "gym rat" and that he's always out there on the field practicing and working out on his own.
Shannon also said he's excited about the team's outlook this season.

Collins selected by Suns in 2010 NBA DraftFormer University of Miami forward Dwayne Collins (Miami, Fla.) was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 60th pick of the 2010 NBA Draft held in Madison Square Garden in New York City on Thursday evening.
It marks the second-straight season that a Hurricane has been selected in the NBA Draft.
Collins becomes the 18th Hurricane overall and the fifth since 2002 to be selected in the NBA Draft. Jack McClinton was the last Hurricane taken in the draft, picked 51st overall by the San Antonio Spurs in 2009.
